Jack learned to read from his parents and in preschool, whether it was a book being read to him before he fell asleep or a shared story time in class at a younger age. These action from other caused enough of a reaction for him to begin the local libraries reading challenge during the summer at a young age reading the magic tree house series to be rewarded by the library with achievements. His liking for reading carried on as he began to read more on his own until he began to be required to read books by his school. From then on he found it more of a challenge to read books simply because he had no interest and drive to read the book, making it more of a job and less of a leisure activity. Even though he may be forced to read books he is able to maintain a level of liking for reading and continues to read what intrigues him.
Jack has never been much of a writer when it was needed let alone when he wants to, as a young boy writing was not a struggle for jack but not a love. Always viewed as work more than leisure he was never one that believed you could capture the full essence of an idea in writing. When needed jack could write but it takes more than just the quick movement of his hand to be able to write something and give it meaning. When it came down to it jack just did not believe himself to be a writer seeing how every assignment he did he strives to complete in one draft and if he were told to make a second draft his response would be unseen anger and annoyance. |
