When the government tells the country or world something it is often met with criticism and many doubt whether the leaders of the country are telling the truth or not. What I have found being in various social studies classes which have helped me looked at these situation through various perspectives. The government lies, that's something that happens all the time.I am surprised at the way they lie though, it seems like they could be so effective but it always blows up in their faces. The way the government lies is by telling us what we want to hear. By giving us a title like no child left behind which every one likes and then uses that to get away with things that would not be okay if they were out in the open. Heather Brooke talks about how the worlds governments lie to us and it is our duty to fix the problem. She is right and wrong in my view. She is right in the way that it is our responsibility to fix the government but wrong in the idea that alone one person can fix it. The government is a way for the people to make things better by coming together to be the people the world or nation needs them to be so the idea that one person can change it as sad as the thought may be is wrong to an extent.
Technology can do amazing things for humanity. It has helped those in need, brought luxury and style to those who can afford, and given power to those who may have been considered week 50 years ago. That could be a problem with it thought, because as much as it advances the world it also cripple us in a way. With technology we can have an imaginable power and we don't realize how easy it is to be taken or for us to lose that power. It is literally a set of codes or a user name that can allows us to fire missiles for submarines that can kill thousands of people or virus that if real eased into a big city or huge crowd could lead to a world wide pandemic. The power of technology is awe striking but we cannot lose ourselves in it because their will be those who use it for more sinister purposes.
In the short film The Obsolete Man it seems that society has turned upside down and their views have been skewed into an idea that they view as righteous and the single and only correct truth. It may be sad to say but the government or whatever body of leadership the court was apart of was able to apply the question "can community come together without truth or righteousness" to their creed or motto. What ever way the leading body worked it was effective if not confusing at times. It convinced people of a single answer through jaded half truths that were meant to weed out those with different opinions so they could be either converted or executed as examples of the public on how they should act inn the world they now live in. The world that we lives gives us the opinion that what we saw was wrong and having grown up a free human being I believe that the way the man on the pedestal accused the librarian was wrong. I probably would not say the same if I grew up in the world of the obsolete man. I view what they did as the opposite of righteous and a lie but to the people that exist in that place in time and space that film would prove that the government doesn't have to be truthful or righteousness to be effective.
The government, the man, big cheese, the fuzz. What are they really hiding from us in plain sight or not telling us. More often that not the government is given a crappy look because of the choices they have to make and how they affect the people they are serving. People like to blame others when bad things happen, to know that even everything around them is falling and it is not their fault. When this happens at times in the government something that the president can use is a signing statement which almost brings himself above the law and gives him at the vary least the ability to ignore it with no consequences. When this happens it is often covered up so the community of people that the government serves is not blames for a problem. The problem with hiding these is that it makes it nearly twice as bad when it comes to light. Using a signing signature can often lead to the people have less and less trust for the government and those in it. It makes sense since they are not being too righteous with theses problems.
